Positive Affirmation Meditation

Meditation Techniques Health and Holistics Cosham

There are thousands of different meditation techniques in the world today, but my favourite and by far my go-to is Positive Affirmation Meditation.

So what is Positive Affirmation Meditation and how can it help you?

Positive Affirmation Meditation, or PAM, is a way of lightening our mood, praising ourselves and filling ourselves with confidence with every juicy breath that we take. It is a personal mantra that only we know, and only we hear.

The first thing you need to do when engaging in a PAM session(?) is get comfortable, sitting or laying - Yogi’s choice.

Take a few moments to simply concentrate on your prayanama, or breath work. Really feel every inhale through your nose as you slowly contract your diaphragm and let the oxygen get to work and reach your brain. Let yourself feel a sense of clarity and clearer thinking. As you exhale through your mouth, releasing all the toxins from your body, allow your shoulders to drop to their lowest point.

When you feel ready, and when your mind and body feel cleansed, you can start reciting your PAM Mantra. This mantra is yours, and needs to symbolise each part of your being that sometimes needs reminding that it is, in fact, awesome.

To help you on your journey, i will share my personal PAM mantra with you, but remember - yours should be personal to you and your own needs!

Inhale - You are kind

Exhale - You are beautiful

Inhale - You are happy

Exhale - You are enough

With every beautiful deep inhale and exhale that you produce, I want you to internally say a line from your mantra just like mine above.

Do not allow any other thoughts to enter the mind, ignore any intrusive thoughts and, if you need to, shout that mantra internally until they are smothered by self love.

Practice your PAM mantra and prayanama whenever you can, whether it is 5 minutes in the break room at work, during Savasana or before bed as you are drifting off to sleep.

They key to mantras and how they work to heal our souls is repetition. The more often you are able to practice this technique, the more of an effect you will see in your confidence and overall wellbeing.

Happy PAMing!

Namaste
